University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
My journey with coaching started when I joined Leadership Development Team at Royal Derby Hospital in 2013; being surrounded by coaches I began to appreciate the benefits of being asked questions to boost reflective thinking and find my own solutions. I started taking coaching approach in both personal and professional life and decided to become a coach; I completed my ILM5 qualification in Coaching and Mentoring in February 2017. Currently, I support Trustwide Coaching within Leadership Development programmes and also individual requests from across the Trust. I find coaching approach useful when facilitating 360 degree feedback sessions, Lumina feedback sessions, Motivational Maps and Action Learning Sets. I strongly believe coaching enables individuals to discover their strengths, concentrate on areas for development and draws out individuals’ talent and skills. Through coaching I strive to provide a safe space where individuals can explore areas that may otherwise remain out of reach.
